Commissions, step by step.
Enquire for free. Sam discusses your idea and prepares a quote. You review the details and agreement, then pay the agreed deposit to book the work. Sam confirms when the artwork is ready and the remaining balance is due before dispatch or collection.
The saved quote sets the exact brief, medium, size, price, delivery, revisions and timeframe for your commission. No payment is taken just for sending an enquiry.
Your agreed brief
This quote covers the artwork, scope, revisions, price, delivery and timeframe described above. An enquiry is free and does not commit either party. A commission is booked only after the quote is accepted and the agreed deposit is received.
Deposit and balance
The deposit is part of the total price. The balance is due after Sam confirms the artwork is ready and before dispatch or collection. There are no automatic charges. Changes to the brief, extra revisions, framing or delivery must be agreed in writing, including any extra price, before they are undertaken.
Handmade artwork and timing
Handmade textures and colours can vary and screen colours are an approximation. Sam will work to the agreed brief, discuss progress and provide completion photos. Tell Sam before acceptance about essential requirements and deadlines.
Changing your mind
If you change your mind, contact Sam promptly. Any cancellation deduction must be reasonable and limited to documented costs already incurred and work completed at the price or rate agreed with you, subject to Australian Consumer Law. Unspent or unearned amounts will be refunded. The deposit is not automatically forfeited.
Problems, refunds and consumer rights
If Sam cannot complete the agreed work, payments for undelivered work will be refunded. Delivery damage, faults or a substantial difference from the agreed brief must be raised with Sam for assessment and an appropriate remedy. Nothing in this agreement excludes your rights or remedies under Australian Consumer Law.
Copyright and your artwork
By accepting this written agreement, both parties agree that Sam retains copyright in the artwork, including a commissioned portrait, unless a different arrangement is expressly agreed in writing. Once fully paid, you own the physical artwork and may display it for personal use. Commercial copying, prints or merchandising require a separate written licence.
Reference photos and privacy
Only provide reference images you own or have permission to use. Customer images and personal details are used to manage the enquiry and commission. Portfolio sharing is optional and requires your permission; personal reference photos are not published without separate consent.
Personal and sentimental objects
If you want personal or sentimental objects incorporated, agree their handling, intended alteration and return arrangements with Sam before sending them. Do not send irreplaceable items until those arrangements are confirmed.
